Scales

This section presents musical scales for keyboard/piano and guitar.

The scales are grouped into two main categories:

• Known scales: scales known through all ages and cultures, used for regional/ethnic or modern class/jazz music; you can find more about these scales by searching through the Internet, and by reading books on Music Theory;
• Synthetic scales: computer-generated scales distinct from known scales; these scales were generated by a program written in Ruby, based on an algorithm that carefully avoids unnecessary gaps and crowded notes, so it results in practical/usable, yet experimental, scales.
